Meet The Artist

Rick Silberberg is a contemporary American artist whose career spans more than five decades of painting, exhibiting, and creative exploration.

He earned his Master of Arts from Herbert H. Lehman College, The City University of New York, in 1972, beginning a lifelong commitment to the visual arts.

Over the years, Rick has developed a style that balances observation, imagination, and experimentation. Instead of working toward a predetermined result, he allows each painting to grow naturally, building layers of color, texture, and form until the work reveals its own direction. This approach gives every piece a sense of openness, allowing each viewer to experience it in a personal way.

His artwork has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries, museums, universities, and cultural organizations throughout the United States. In addition to his exhibition history, Rick has served as Co-Gallery Director of the Essex Art Association and worked as an Art Therapist at the Whiting Forensic Institute, reflecting his long-standing commitment to both the artistic community and creative education.

Rick’s work has been praised by critics for its expressive color, rich visual depth, and ability to create images that are both emotional and thought-provoking.

Today, he continues to create new collections while expanding his practice through painting, sculpture, and digital art, always exploring new ideas and new ways of seeing the world.

A Lifetime of Artistic Exploration

For decades, Rick Silberberg has developed a distinctive visual language that blends observation, memory, and imagination. His work invites viewers to interpret each painting through their own experiences, creating a deeply personal connection with every piece.

Testimonials

Living with Rick Silberberg’s Art: A Daily Joy
"I’ve known Rick Silberberg for years and have always admired his talent. My partner and I own two of his pieces—including After One Day, a large, dreamy oil canvas from his Avery Point show, and a smaller, misty landscape from his studio. What makes Rick's art so spectacular is that it lets the viewer's imagination define it, revealing new details and interpretations every day. Rick is a wonderful, witty person, and we are thrilled to have his creative energy filling our home."
